Monsoon finally bid adieu to south and west coast. This part of Sri Lanka welcomes bright sunshine .
Galle, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Mirissa, Negombo, Tangalle, Ella and Horton Plains.
The north and east parts of the island as they may still be affected by the final days of the northeastern monsoon.
If you want wildlife then make your way over to Sinharaja or to Bundala and Uda Walawe to catch a glimpse of their wonderful selection of migratory birds. There will also be blue whales in abundance off the coast of Mirissa.
The final poya of the year, Unduvap Poya is celebrated in honour of Sangamitta Theri bringing a sapling from the Sacred Bodhi Tree to Sri Lanka. Thousands of Buddhists will pay homage to the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura on this day.
